Tim Powell

Tim has been qualified since 2000 and after completing 3 years working for the NHS, he worked for the MOD within a primary care rehabilitation facility, completing his post graduate diploma in sports & exercise medicine in 2008. Since 2009 he has worked as the clinical specialist in sports injuries at the Regional Rehabilitation Unit at HMS Drake, Plymouth, working with sports medicine physicians and exercise rehabilitation instructors, providing multi-disciplinary out-patient and residential rehabilitation to military personnel throughout the south west. He has recently been appointed to work for the English Institute of Sport providing support to the Plymouth based Great Britain diving team athletes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mike Burdon

Dr Mike Burdon works as a GP with special interest in sports Medicine for the MoD. Mike is completing his specialist certificate in sport and exercise medicine (SEM) and is due to become a consultant in SEM in 2012. Mike gained an Msc in SEM through Bath University in 2009 and has worked in professional boxing, rugby, football and diving. With a special interest in tendinopathy aetiology and management options he has a passion for the multidisciplinary approach to patient care allowing an informed patient choice within the framework of evidence-based medicine.

 


 

 

 

 

Paul Coker 

Paul is a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist with particular interests in manual therapy, manipulation kinesiology taping and specific exercise prescription.  He qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2001 and completed his Masters degree in Manual Therapy in 2007. He currently operates on a self employed basis working in private physiotherapy practices & GP surgeries. Paul also teaches post graduate courses in spinal manipulation. 

 

Avril Eaves

BSc(hons) MRSS, MBSCH. Avril's experience as a senior manager in both private and public sectors led to the formation of her company, Essential Training and Development, in 1995. Providing bespoke training for a variety of organisations her goal is to increase motivation, productivity and enable the organisations' objectives to be met. As a visiting lecturer in psychology at the University of Plymouth she specialised in communication skills, teamwork, stress in the workplace and personal development. She recognised that individuals also need help in formulating their goals and achieving their objectives and therefore developed her skills in Brief Therapy to introduce appropriate strategies to her clients.

 

 

Stephen Bloor

Qualifying in 1988, Stephen started with Plymouth Health Authority before establishing the first full-time podiatry clinic in a private hospital in the UK at Nuffield Hospital Harrogate. Stephen studied lower-limb biomechanics and developed his knowledge in podiatric surgery and musculo-skeletal medicine establishing the Harrogate Podiatry Practice, one of the first to specialise in musculo-skeletal podiatry in the country. Stephen is also the Founder member of the British Podiatric Biomechanics Group. Stephen has design customisable foot orthotic devices for Healthy Step Ltd.

Stephen has lectured on a wide variety of Podiatry subjects to medical groups across the country. Stephen runs the Runright Stepfree Clinic in Helston, his excellent reputation ensures referrals from across the county and beyond. 

 

 

Mark Pascoe

Renowned for his Therapy skills and teaching ability, Mark is held in high regard amongst his colleague’s and past students.

Mark has been teaching Sports Therapy, Strength and Conditioning and Massage for over ten years as part of his responsibilities lecturing and running the ‘Sports Therapy and Coaching’ and ‘Personal Trainer’ courses for Plymouth University.

Marks CV is further enhanced by his work with England Rugby, the GB Fencing team and Tri athlete’s. Marks extensive knowledge of exercise prescription and special populations allows him to offer diverse treatment options for specific groups. Many therapists have benefited from Marks dynamic practical teaching talent and we invite you to do the same.

 

 


Steve Pritchard

As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for the ‘Lumbar Spine Pathway’ at Derriford Hospital Steve has a leading role in the investigation, evolution and monitoring of the spinal triage service at the regional neurosurgical speciality unit. Steve is keen to share the knowledge he has gained from his close working relationships with a variety of specialist consultants.

Having lectured on lumbar pathology to postgraduate students Steve is an honorary lecturer for the University of Plymouth. Steve has also been a member of the British Antarctic Survey Medical Unit having taught its senior medical team.

 

Val Noble

Val trained as a Physiotherapist in 1982 and completed a Masters degree in Ergonomics in 1997. She has 16 years experience as an Ergonomics Adviser working in Occupational Health and more recently has been working on a Human Factors Research project at the University of Plymouth.

As a founder member of the South West Ergonomics Active Reality (SWEAR) group, and a member of ACPOHE, Val is keen to promote an interest in Ergonomics and Human Factors in the South West.www.noble-ergonomics.co.uk

 

Reg D’Souza

A highly qualified Physiotherapist with an impressive record of clinical, research and lecturing experience spanning 34 years, we are honoured to have Reg D’Souza on our Lecturing team.

Reg is both a professional Acupuncturist and a Clinic Specialist Chartered Physiotherapist. Reg divides his time between the Royal Cornwall Hospital Pain Clinic and his own successful private practice. With specialist knowledge of chronic pain Reg completed a research dissertation in the benefits of acupuncture in treating chronic low back pain. Reg also works closely with the Rambert Dance Company treating dance related injuries, you may wish to question Reg further regarding this specialist patient group.
